Specialized Pest Control

While some pest species have similar behavior patterns, many possess unique habits. For this reason, pest management techniques differ for each situation. Below are some pests that require unique treatment plans.

mosquito bite

Mosquitos

Many consider mosquitoes the most nuisance pest species in existence. They are also one of the hardest to control. Mosquito management must include frequent chemical treatments as well as breeding location removal. Our mosquito treatment plan includes a seasonal monthly service starting in April and ending in October. This service will help you enjoy the outdoors throughout the summer. Mosquitoes are knows carriers of a number of important diseases.

Bed Bugs

Bed bugs may be one of the most difficult pests to control. Their reclusive nature, coupled with their hardiness, make bed bugs the ultimate pest. Once a house is infested with bed bugs, detailed treatment by the pest control professional and customer cooperation are necessary for successful treatment. A minimum of two chemical treatments is necessary to eliminate this pest.

Fleas

Fleas, an ectoparasite,  live exclusively on animals. They cannot survive long term with out a host. However, they can live for an extended period of time off the original host, jumping around looking for new one. The first step in a successful flea treatment begins with identifying the source of the infestation, which can be anything from a pet cat to mice living in the attic. From there, the source and the living areas need to be treated around the same time to ensure success.

German Cockroaches

German cockroaches can infest any area in a structure. However, they prefer dark spaces with access to food and water. For this reason, kitchens, bathrooms, utility rooms, and cabinets remain cockroach’s favorite infestation areas. Treatment often requires meticulous inspection and chemical application by the technician. 2 – 3 visits are also usually needed to achieve elimination. Cockroach infestations are known to produce harmful diseases if left untreated.

Ticks

Ticks, an ectoparasite, feed on blood from animals. They go through phases of feeding then long phases of digesting blood. Treatment for ticks involves outside sprays in infested areas. Back yards around wooded areas or areas with frequent animal traffic are both potential problem areas. A monthly landscape and lawn spray will provide complete coverage. Ticks are also a known vector of multiple diseases.

Wasps & Bees

Both wasps and bees love to seek shelter around man made structures. Attic vents, eaves, sofits, trees, and landscaping around a home all provide ideal nesting areas for these species. Both wasps and bees live in colony structures, creating nests and hives with saliva and chewed materials. Treatment of their nests may be as simple as a direct treatment, or may be complex involving fogging and multiple visits. As many know, wasps and bees possess a painful sting.

Drain Flies & Phorid Flies

Drain flies and Phorid Flies are similar in many aspects. These small fly species breed in moist areas, with drain flies preferring more water and phorid flies preferring more decaying organic material. Often, both can be traced to a underlying moisture issue or leak. Treatment for these flies involves identifying the source of the infestation, then applying appropriate chemical treatments to kill larvae or adults.

Brown Recluse Spiders

Brown recluse spiders remain the most important spider species in this area. They can invest homes at an alarming rate. They are not aggressive to their own kind and are willing to live extremely close. Treatment of these spiders involves multiple chemical barriers as well as space fogs in areas such as an attic or crawlspace. While they don’t actively seek humans, they will bite if threatened and possess a potent venom. Some people have violent reactions while others may not react.

Camel Crickets

Camel crickets are a species of cricket that appear to be from prehistoric times. They often infest basements and crawl spaces because of the darkness and high moisture levels. Once they find a suitable habitat, they will breed and produce a vast population. Basements and crawl spaces that experience camel cricket infestation will require a chemical treatment and may need to address a moisture issue.

Asian Lady Beetles

Asian Lady Beetles usually interact with humans twice a year; in the fall when they are looking to find a place to overwinter, and in the spring when they are exiting their harborage. McGee Pest Control uses the timing of the seasons to prevent lady bug infestations. One properly timed outside treatment of the home will prove successful in getting rid of lady bugs year round.
