Termite Control

In many ways, termites are the ultimate pest. Termite colonies, consisting of hundreds of thousands of individuals, live exclusively underground. Couple this with their appetite for wood, and termites start to resemble something out of a Si-Fi movie. Here’s what you need to know…

About the Eastern Subterranean Termite

There are many species of termites worldwide, but the only species effecting this area is the eastern subterranean termite. This species of termites live exclusively in the ground and prefer to feed on dry and structurally sound wood. They also eat through many other substances including drywall, paper, and cardboard. Termites forage for food through the soil by creating mud tubes (AKA shelter tunnels). These tubes give termites access to hard to reach wood, like at the top of a tree, or at the top of a block foundation. Shelter tubes provide termites with protection as well as proper moisture levels. For the average homeowner, termites present a daunting problem. No other entity can devalue your home like the termite, but we are here to help.

What to expect

McGee Pest Control realizes many questions arise about termites and how they effect a structure. We are here to help educate our customers. For new customers, McGee Pest Control offers free termite inspections. Here’s how a typical termite inquiry works.

# 1 Inspection

After a quick call to our office, we will set up an initial termite inspection. During this inspection, one of our experienced technicians will arrive at your home, thoroughly inspect your home for termites, and answer any questions you have. They will explain how our Sentricon Baiting System works as well as if a liquid treatment would be more effective, take measurements of your home, then bring the information back to the office. From there, one of our team members will call you with a recommendation for which treatment method would be most effective, a quote, and any follow-up questions that may have come up.

# 2 Treatment

Hopefully you decide to treat your home for termites. Good choice! We will schedule a service date that works for you, arrive on site, and begin the treatment. At least two of our technicians will be on site to complete the job. Depending on the termite solution you have agreed upon, they will either place eco-friendly Sentricon bait stations or perform a liquid treatment. The baits are strategically placed around your home’s perimeter and will not only take care of the termites you’re dealing with now but will eradicate the colony nearby. These baits have an ingestion and contact effect on termites – they unknowingly encounter the material, become infected, and transfer the material to other termites in the colony. The industry leading termiticide liquid treatment is applied to the the soil around your home. Whichever treatment you need, either can usually be completed in one working day.

# 3 Warranty and Yearly Inspection

After the initial treatment, McGee Pest Control will guarantee the service for one year. This guarantee includes a full damage warranty up to 1 million dollars and a re-treatment of any infested areas. After the first year, we will contact you asking to extend the contract for another year. An annual contract extension includes a nominal fee and an inspection by one of our technicians. The contract extends every year it is renewed.
